Le grand maitre corbissien est Stephen Gillet, vice président en technologie de la compagnie. Il devient "Corbis Kamachi" ( son avatar) dans la Deuxième Vie. Longue vie à tous...

Corbis, US photo agency, just announced that it has opened a gallery in Second Life that "is focused on creating a community space where those interested in art and photography can view, share and discuss imagery..." Stephen Gillett, Corbis’s Vice President of Technology (Avatar Name: Corbis Kamachi), "led the design and creation efforts for the Corbis gallery in Second Life" said Corbis.

Victimes de l'agent orange contre compagnies chimiques — Agent Orange victims vs. chemical companies

Trente deux ans après la guerre, les plaies du Vietnam ne sont pas toutes refermées. Le tristement célèbre «agent orange» - contenant de la dioxine -, déversé par millions de litres sur le sud du pays, continue à faire des dégâts chez les humains. Jusqu'à la troisième génération. Faute de pouvoir d'attaquer les Etats-Unis pour crime de guerre, les victimes vietnamiennes intentent un procès en réparation contre les industries chimiques américaines - dont Monsanto et Dow Chemical, qui fabriquèrent ce produit. Il a été rejetée par un juge de Brooklyn. Début juin 2007, le procès en appel débute aux Etats-Unis. Verdict en octobre.

En 1961, John F. Kennedy autorise l'épandage d'herbicides sur le sud du Vietnam pour détruire la végétation qui cache les combattants Viêt-cong. Herbicides ou arme chimique ? Le Vietnam estime qu'il continue à payer les conséquences d'une guerre chimique, la première de grande envergure. Après deux ans de tests, plus de 49 millions de litres d'agent orange sont déversés, sous une forme non diluée contenant un fort taux de dioxine, entre 1963 et 1971. Ils ont contaminé plus de 10 % de la surface du sud du Vietnam. Mais aussi des animaux et des hommes...

Thirty-two years after the end of the war, the wounds of the Vietnam War have not all healed. The sadly famous dioxin-loaded "agent orange" which was sprayed by the million gallons over the south of the country continues to cause damage in humans down to the third generation. Le reportage a été effectué sur plusieurs périodes : du novembre 2006 au juillet 2007 dans tout le Viêt Nam. Ma présence n'a pas été toujours la bienvenue de la part des autorités qui craignaient que la médiatisation (des victimes) gâchent la — bonne — relation entre le Viêt Nam et les Etats-Unis.
